FEATURE FILM, COMING SOON

A YOUNG WOMAN, LOLA (GELILLA MEKONNEN) AND HER SUCCESSFUL HUSBAND, CARY (MILES HAMPTON) ATTEMPT TO MEND THEIR RELATIONSHIP DURING A WEEK LONG STINT AT A REMOTE CABIN.

WITH AN IMPENDING DUE DATE, CARY IS RUSHING TO COMPLETE THE FIRST DRAFT OF A DEBUT MEMOIR ABOUT HIS LATE WIFE AND DECEASED CHILD — WHEN HIS CURRENT WIFE, LOLA SHARES THAT SHE’S PREGNANT. BOTH CONTEMPORARY AND CLASSICIST AT ONCE, AWARD-WINNING FILMMAKERS RYAN HENRY KNIGHT AND AHAB MULLICK EMPLOYED A CASSAVETES STYLE APPROACH TO THE WRITING AND DIRECTING OF THE FILM, IMPROVISING FROM A DETAILED SET OF NOTES. NASCENTIA WAS ALSO MADE DURING THE PANDEMIC WITH A SHOESTRING BUDGET AND A SMALL CREW.

CONFOUNDING AND DEEPLY POIGNANT, THE FILM SERVES AN EXEGESIS ON GRIEF AND REGRET AND HOW BOTH FEELINGS CAN DEEPLY IMPACT RELATIONSHIPS IF NOT STARVED AND EXCISED.

WRITTEN, DIRECTED AND PHOTOGRAPHED BY RYAN HENRY KNIGHT AND AHAB MULLICK AT 20 YEARS OLD — NASCENTIA IS AN ESSENTIAL FILM BY TWO OF WORLD CINEMA’S NEWEST, MOST GIFTED AND DISTINCT VOICES.
