HIS WORK HAS BEEN SCREENED AND RECOGNIZED AT FESTIVALS ACROSS THE GLOBE, SUCH AS THE BAFTA-RECOGNIZED AESTHETICA FILM FESTIVAL AND THE PRESTIGIOUS AUSTIN FILM FESTIVAL. IN 2017, HE CO-FOUNDED THE INDEPENDENT PRODUCTION COMPANY, HÖMA MOTION PICTURES. HE HAS WON AWARDS FOR BOTH SCREENWRITING AND DIRECTING AT INTERNATIONAL FESTIVALS AND COMPETITIONS, INCLUDING BEST SHORT SCREENPLAY AT THE NEW YORK INTERNATIONAL SCREENPLAY AWARDS AND THE GOLDEN SCRIPT COMPETITION FOR HIS SCREENPLAY AND HOME WE CAME.
IN APRIL 2019, HIS MEDITATIVE FILM LUDERE RECEIVED AN HONORABLE MENTION FOR BEST STUDENT DIRECTOR AT THE INDEPENDENT SHORTS AWARDS. THE FILM WAS DEEMED "A HIGHLY DISTINCTIVE PIECE OF EXPERIMENTAL CINEMA" BY ACCLAIMED ACTOR, DIRECTOR, AND NOBUDGE FOUNDER, KENTUCKER AUDLEY (SUN DON'T SHINE, SHE DIES TOMORROW, STRAWBERRY MANSION).
AT 19, RYAN HAD ALREADY DONE WORK FOR ORGANIZATIONS SUCH AS GOOGLE AND THE FADER FORT, AS WELL AS INSTRUCTED YOUTH FILMMAKING COURSES AT THE WORKHOUSE ARTS CENTER AT HIS HOMETOWN IN LORTON, VIRGINIA. MORE RECENTLY, AT AGE 20, RYAN TOOK HOME THE AWARD FOR BEST DIRECTOR AT THE TRINITY FILM FESTIVAL FOR HIS SHORT FILM YOU ALMOST SAW ME, WHICH HE WROTE, DIRECTED, AND PRODUCED AT THE AGE OF 18. THE FILM WAS ALSO FEATURED ON FILM SHORTAGE.
LEADING INTO 2021, HIS FEATURE-LENGTH EFFORT, HOW TO DISAPPEAR COMPLETELY MADE ITS WORLD PREMIERE AT THE RENOWNED GARY INTERNATIONAL BLACK FILM FESTIVAL, PARTNERED WITH AVA DUVERNAY’S ARRAYNOW IN OCTOBER 2021. 
RYAN IS CURRENTLY ATTACHED TO DIRECT HIS FIRST STUDIO FEATURE-LENGTH FILM, CALI DREAMS.
